Dump Your Plump, Mideval Faire, moving, work

Mar 31, 2003 17:42

What can I tell you? I haven't had much to say lately. And in lieu of something to say, I've opted not to clog Friends' pages with jibbering crap (well, more so than the jibbering crap I unload when I DO have something to say). But I'm feeling an extended moment of introspection and reflection, and I am moved today to write in my journal. Yay!

I want to share my office's latest weight loss program. We're participating in "Dump Your Plump" and 19 of the team names have been announced:
Shock And Awe
The Flab U Less 7
The Days of Our Thighs
Low-Fat Marketing
Lean Team
Inches Aweigh '03
Operation WOW
The Scale Breakers
6 P.A.C. (my team, YAY!)
Dissociative Dieters (the behavioral health department, go figure)
7 Women and a Bun in the Oven
Belly Busters
Chub-a lot-of-us
The Dream Team
The Lady Lite Weights
H and the Phat Chicks
Patriot Muscles
My Big Fat Greek Weight Loss
We've Got the Rolls, You Bring the Coffee

Before my team became 6 P.A.C., we rejected a number of other ideas (you can just guess which were mine):
Hancock Saints (Hancock being the ranking team member, he was primarily responsible for the rejection of our other favorites)
Big Fridays (inside joke)
8 Tylers (also an inside joke)
Hail Damage
Spit Not Swallow

One of the first things my new boss-lady did when she started was counsel me on my failure to take lunches. This job is so soft about such things it fairly squishes, but she needed to flex a little so I'd know who's boss. Yay. This was many moons ago. Part of the lecture involved the fact that while I didn't take lunches, I DID work 15 minutes of overtime in that 2 week pay period, which is unacceptable. Oops. Actually, (follow me here), I only did work 80 hours that pay period, but 39.75 hours one week and 40.25 hours the next. So in essence I was being lectured over the fact that my company paid me $1.42 for which I did not receive prior authorization. Fast forward to today... My big "OH SHIT" this morning is that I accidentally worked 1 hour and 15 minutes extra last pay period. Since I had some vacation time in there, the extra time occurred in a week in which I did not work 40 hours and therefor none of it will be paid at the overtime rate. So pretty much, I'm in deep doo-doo at work because the company has to pay me an extra $14.16.
They really don't pay me enough to expect I'll take much guilt over something as small as that. I begged HR to adjust my time back to 80 hours, but they refused. So Alice (who has never been fond of me in the least) is on the war path, at a time when the company is pulling out of SoonerCare and layoffs are happening all over the place. Whee! Alright, I'll say it. I'm scared. Alice is (and has been) building a case against me almost from day one. I don't know which straw will be the one to break the camel's back, but each and every one is a stressor for me now. Please, don't let it be this one.

I stayed up too late last night, and don't feel the least bit bad about it. Would have been nice to be able to say I had some kind of fun time, but all I did was watch British re-runs on OETA. I LOVE "Keeping Up Appearances." Life can be so good. Shitty, but good.
