Doctor Strange

We got to the UA COLORADO CENTER STADIUM 9 & IMAX theatre an hour early to see Doctor Strange. It’s nice to have the place to ourselves for a while before the crowd starts filtering in. It reminds me of my teen years going to the Cooper theatre on Colorado Blvd, sitting high above the first rows of people. The Cooper was the only theatre in town that had a balcony. Once that was torn down decades later people had to go back to suffering trying tt see through the head of the person in front of you. Then someone got the bright idea to incorporate stadium seating. Once again it was a pleasure to go to the movies. But the snacks still needed a lot of help.

Especially the popcorn.

It was some years later that the quality of the popcorn (which always tasted stale) improved as well as the addition of other snacks. Unfortunately the prices of those snacks have skyrocketed, bring the paycheck along because now it costs a family of four somewhere about $60 - $80 for a night out. Popcorn now costs six dollars and change and a medium drink five and change. Although to be fair a small drink to them is 32 ounces.

I should have gotten a small.

The one thing they have put in place in the last few months is “Assigned Seating”. I’m not fond of this at all. I’ll have to learn more about this, but so far no one can tell me WHY this is being done.

Doctor Strange is a good movie. I whole heartedly recommend it. While there are places in the movie that I could have called in my sleep (the usual boring tropes: freaking huge ego to go with the freakishly huge intelligence, astronomical wealth, power, affluence all marred predictably by tragedy), it gets a little trippy with the world folding in on itself in the mirror universe, but that’s to be expected considering the level of magic the characters are wielding. Still…Hubby got a little queasy at one point. I didn’t. It was just cool to me. I like the fact that the cloak he wears has a sentience to it. I’m sure I can learn more about it if I go online and do some research.

With multiple successful movies under his belt I really don’t think I need tell you how wonderful the man’s acting is or the fact that he just rocks as eye candy.  I look forward to seeing Benedict Cumberbatch in the next Avengers movie. Or maybe it’s the next Thor movie. The teaser at the end didn’t really say. Whichever it is, the eye candy factor is going to be off the charts. For now I’ll just leave my review as it stands.
