Counting the days now...

Ah yes, another long period of silence washed away in a sudden and random late night posting! Considering that I've consistently been up until 2 or 3 AM these past couple weeks, though, it's not so late for me. If you were wondering what I was doing during all this time, on a whim, I wrote an alternate universe of a manga I like, making the main character far less wimpy, though more psychologically tormented (which is like my modus operandi). Considering that it was a redo of the main plotline, I was able to rework most of the dialogue to quicken the process. In the end, it ended up being a very good exercise in describing people's tones and facial expressions, which made it all worthwhile. It had better have been, since it took me DAYS working for hours on end to finally produce the 163 page finished product (that's 81,000 words for those who care). And no, it shall never see the light of day, since I only did it for fun and practice and I feel a little embarrassed about the whole thing.

Otherwise, I signed up for classes on the 18th. I'm enrolled in Fluid Mechanics...Again... Also Reinforced Steel Structures and Structural Dynamics, both of which I think shall be evil.

Last weekend, during a party held by my friend Stephanie, I ran into a guy named Casey Bishop, who I went to high school with. It was pretty funny, considering he had come at the behest of another friend of his, who I had met briefly a year ago. I had fun, hung out with a lot of people, and kicked major butt at croquet. Don't laugh. OK, go ahead, since I laughed when I wrote that.

I was taking a look at my old high school yearbooks earlier, and I realized just how much I miss all those people, and how sad it is that I've lost touch with most of them. Even my closest friends from then and I never really chat. It's rather ironic that the old friend from school I see most often is Stephanie, who I went to elementary school with, rather than those I graduated high school with.

A couple weeks ago I played a tennis match against some of my mom's friends, since they needed a fourth person. I was very annoyed that mom and I lost, especially since we should have won. At least I actually started playing pretty well towards the end, especially my serve, which had been horrendous only days before.

I don't know if I mentioned it already, but I got carded for the first time in my life around a month ago. Not for buying beer or anything like that. Nope. For buying an M-rated video game, F.E.A.R. (which, by the way, is very good, but scary as hell!) It's a sad world. I told the guy that I played Doom back when the game was fairly new, and he laughingly agreed it was pretty silly.

I have all 28 volumes of the Rurouni Kenshin manga now. I was lucky enough to start buying them just before Volume 28 came out, so I didn't have to pull my hair out waiting. I'm very glad to have finally gotten to see the Jinchu arc, which was never animated. It's extremely good, and it was very satisfying to see Kenshin's finally peaceful face on the cover of Volume 28. Neon Genesis Evangelion is still my favorite anime, but I think Kenshin is probably second at the moment.

Speaking of Evangelion, I broke down and bought the Director's Cut version, along with Death and Rebirth and End of Evangelion. I've seen the latter two before fansubbed, and decided I had been mooching for long enough. End of Evangelion was just as weird on DVD as I remember it being. Oddly enough, I find Episode 26 more satisfying in the end, somehow.

I also started playing the piano again a little bit. Mostly because I wanted to learn a couple anime themes. I've gotten decently good at the Main Theme from Suzuka.

I guess that's about all. If I ramble on any more, people will probably want to gouge out their eyeballs.
