Pre #Blizzcon 2011

Nov 02, 2011 13:30

I have no idea how to express how awesome it is every time I go to Blizzcon. Though last year we couldn’t make it to Blizzcon I was a bit upset about it and had to settle for livestream, and usually it’s something my husband and I plan to go to every year because it would be our very own vacation.

To those that don’t know me very well, when my husband and I got married we seem to have put a brick on the accelerator and just went full blast on the parenting highway leaving our alone time behind. That saying, we had a honeymoon baby. Something I’m sure we both weren’t ready for it but it was coming whether we liked it or not. We love our daughter very much, and spoil her to death, literally we do, but after year 3 we needed some vacation time to ourselves. Believe it or not parenting is a 24 hour job, and with my husband being the only one that is working to pay the bills, he’s doing overtime.

Anyway, we drove to California, and yes a cross-country drive. We made two nightly stops at a hotel and my husband had calculated 2400 miles to our hotel and on the first day of driving, we did 1050 miles. Stopped in Texas, I believe way past Dallas that night, because my husband did not want to be in Dallas in the morning with rush hour about to start. The next morning he found out that we’re going to get into California early and if he wished to pay the going rate at our hotel, he would get us to our hotel in Anaheim that night, but did not want to risk us being stranded in the middle of nowhere on our way home with no cash to get gas. So we took a hotel at a Days Inn shortly as we entered California.

Thursday morning we headed out to Anaheim and we were going to get into the city very early and since our reservation check in isn’t until 3pm we were trying to figure out what we should do. Two hours later after driving through LA traffic we made it to our hotel parking area and sat around the parking lot for about an hour while my husband called up a client for some lunch. At least so we can kill time until we checked in. His client works out near Santa Monica which was about an hour away from where our hotel was so he figured, hey let’s have lunch and talk business with the client to kill some time before we check in. So that’s I what we did.

We got back to Anaheim around 4pm and my husband was on the phone making plans for dinner with a friend of his he meet on dribble, that works at/with Disney so dinner was set for that night and while driving down Harbor Blvd, we started to see people walking to their hotels with Blizzcon bags and I was like “OMG must hurry get checked in and get nao.” My husband said that it looks like something big again this year. We got checked in hung around the room to stretch out a bit, went to get our Blizzcon badges and swag bags. My husband was like “LOOK AT THE LINE!” It wasn’t that long of a wait, just about 30 minutes, but that 30 minutes feels quick because the line just kept moving.

Apparently they stamped my bar code printout and let me go through considering that my nickname was used for the badge instead of my full name. I guess they make sure it’s the same last name on the ID or something, but whatever I went through the quick line and got my badge and swag bag. Went back to the hotel room took some pictures of what is in the swag bag, which was a Tyreal vinyl statue. I love this thing, I mean he’s holding the sword and is floating over the base. Fucking great! I’m going to have to do a major cleaning haul on my desk or get a display case for all the collectors’ stuff we get. Again we get an authenticator, Diablo 3 flavor, and some quest items for the convention. Not a lot of stuff but Tyreal is probably the big part of the bag. Without it the swag bag would look so meager.

So after all that went to Target to get my makeup essentials for the Beauty Social Sunday, and then relaxed at the hotel until 8 pm where our reservation for Ruth’s Chris was scheduled for. So my husband did some work to keep clients a bit happy and I surfed the net and trying to make plans with my twitter friends and well time for dinner. The moment that I stepped into Ruth’s Chris I was like “wtf so classy! I should’ve worn my dress.”

So we got our seat and waited about a few minutes for my husband’s friend (Johnny W) and his wife (Debbie W) to show up. When they did both my husband and his friend started to just get chatty about geeky stuff, and I talked to his friend’s wife. So when it was time to order we went with the meal option, and I got myself the prime I think, and hubby got him the ribeye. I tried to get pictures of my steak cause it looked so good but didn’t come out right, but the dessert picture did. I think I had a finger blocking the bottom of the lens or something so I didn’t get a really good picture of the steak, but the chocolate cheesecake looked good.

I do have to say that Ruth’s Chris is practically the best steak I have ever had in my life, worth the money. Although the hubby says that I had asked for A1 but I don’t remember even asking for it cause I looked around and no one else had any steak sauce on their table so I figure not to ask. I was tipsy the rest of the night cause of the Pomegranate Martini and I was giggly. Of course most of the giggling was caused  by the fact that… well I suppose that’s a story I can’t tell yet. Let’s just say that it was hilariously embarrassing.

That was pre-blizzcon! Next post, BlizzCon, and then Post-BlizzCon. =3 Lots to type up.
