Pick Up Groups, for the good. #wow #worldofwarcraft

After a few months of being stumped and not being able to raid with my own guildies, I decided to pug into some raids. The last few months I’ve been pugging Blackwing Caverns, Throne of the Four Winds and Bastion of Twilight. There were more success than failures in the PUGS that I’ve been in and I have benefit alot from them. I’ve also learned several ways to do the boss fights while considering the type of group you have, this considering if it has more melee than range, or all range etc.

My first experience in the Cata PUG raids that I was actually invited to was a decent experience and had a group that had no problem explaining the fights to me. I learn pretty quickly really. Many spirit gear dropped which I was the only one that could roll on it considering everyone else was geared enough that they didn’t need them. The raiders were a bit impressed that they actually got a priest that knows what they’re doing. At least that is what I was told. I’m not the best healer in the world I like to think I know how to heal.

I’ve been in dungeon PUGS that tells me that I’m a terrible healer because they died due to standing in damage aoe or fire when they should be getting out of it. Mostly the DPS dies because if it came down to it, if you’re a ranged DPS and you’re standing next to the tank in melee range attacking a mob that cleaves and I pull you with Leap of Faith then you go running back into melee range with the tank and get cleave again, I’m going to just let you die. I’ve had this happened to me one time and the range wanted to belittle me because he was stupid to stand in shit on the ground and even get cleaved by mobs that cleaves. Sadly the whole dungeon PUG group was all guildies and I was the one outsider. At the end of the run they tried to belittle me again and I stated that the way they were running and acting like idiots no healer would stand to stay in their group as long as I did.

Again I have a tendency of trailing off to another story, but anyway, I have PUGed into several raids this past couple of months and I seem to be making into the raid leaders friends list  because almost every week I get a whisper asking if I want to run the raid. Of course with nothing better to do I jump at the chance to do so. I’m not one that like to PUG alot because when it comes to raiding I rather do it with guildies or even people I know. I get the rarity of having a good raid PUG but it  is all in the matter of the PUG raid leader and how they carry out leading the group, as well as being patient and explaining things to those that have never been in the Cata raids before, and there seems to be alot of that going on lately which is a good thing. The first PUG raid I did was Bastion of Twilight, and the person that invited me was a bit skeptical about me because of my gear, but he wanted to fill the raid and bought me anyway. Said that my gear was good enough for beginner raids but the other two healer could carry me through. Luckily I was able  to show I could heal just as good as those geared healer and they invited me back the next week. Which I missed because I was taking my daughter out for a tea party. The next time I came in I was able to finish the raid night with plenty of new gear and they all congratulated me for a job well done. Then they had a guildie fill that empty priest spot and I was left to find another pug.

Needless to say I have found two different PUG leaders that seem to invite me back to their raids every week now and I’m glad I get invited back. I would join either of their guilds but sadly I have to maintain my own guild which I do not wish to abandon since it’s been a guild for 6 years. Why would anyone abandon a 6 year old guild. Especially if you’re one of the founders and guildmaster of it?

But I do have to get the guild back with some active players again. Even if they are lower levels, there needs to be some activity going on. The guild is a level 20 guild and I would at least like to get it to 25. Would probably bring in more prospective casual players that wants to reap the benefits of the guild perks.

I  suppose my next World of Warcraft  post will be my adventures of leveling a Ret/Holy Paladin on Dalaran. =3
