Update on the kittens.

So to those that have read my tweets on Oct 29th about my cat having kittens, here’s an update on how they’re doing.

First off, on the day that the cat was having her kittens she kept jumping on top of me and she was purring like crazy. She also kept going in and out of my daughter’s play area so I set up a spot for her when she started scratching around at my daughter’s play house. So about 4-6 hours later she had a litter of four kittens. It’s almost a month now and they are starting to walk. Mama cat decided last night to move the kittens, but she was apparently scouting out our bedroom and our daughters bed. Mama cat was carrying/dragging one of the kittens to the bedroom until we caught her in the act at the bedroom doorway. So I closed the door and she ended up moving the kittens under my desk. So I had to clean out under my desk so they have a new resting place.

Anyway, they’re eyes are opened and they’re walking, well more like wobbling around under my desk, and exploring what is around them. What sucks about them being under my desk is that I have to be careful if they are walking around cause I would end up running them over with my chair. Here’s a picture of three of them huddle up before the move. The black and white one is the last born and is actually the more adventurous one. The middle one (grey one) is the first born and very loud. She meows like someone is going to eat her or something when you just pick her up for one second. The first one in the picture I’m not too sure if it’s the male or the female one. There’s two kittens that looks the same but the difference in one of them is that the female one has a scruff of white patch on her chest. They look almost the same cept for that white patch to tell them apart.

So their eyes have opened within the second and half week I think. The camera flash makes it look blue, but it’s just the flash reflecting off their eyes. Right now they just look like a dark grey color, and they might still be half blind as their eye develops more. These little furballs are cute though. My daughter is apparently in love with the black and white one. She kept saying “I like that black and white kitty. It’s my kitty.”

These kittens (not counting the black and white one) has a Persian fur look to them. Black ears, light body fur, dark paws. They might even have long hair. A couple of years ago there was a long haired Persian cat that wandered around our house. She got pregnant and tried to have her kittens inside our house but we had to keep shooing her out. She also had two brothers, and they hung around our garbage bin but were scared of any people and would run away when they saw anyone come near them. The female Persian though kept hanging around the house. So some speculations that one of the kittens father is a Persian mix or something.

Anyway I think I’m going to look for a good home for these kittens very soon when they are able to leave the mama. Unless we make deal with my daughter to give the mama cat away if she wanted to keep one of the kittens. She’s not going to like the idea but we don’t have the expenses to take care of 5 cats. One cat drives us crazy enough. Four might drive us insane. =X
