Gained SC2 5 Win Streak Achievement

Nov 10, 2010 15:04

So today’s post is about StarCraft II. I was bored this morning so I decided to play up some SC2 cause I haven’t played it in a few weeks. My challenge right now is to finish it on Brutal Mode and get the Brutal Mode achievement. So I got frustrated with doing Brutal Mode “The Dig” scene and decided to step away from brutal campaign mode for a while and see how dusty I am in the league matches. Apparently new players have picked up SC2 cause usually I get rushed to death within the first few mins of the match. Today was just a stroke of luck I guess, or something to do with the recent patches that Blizzard has put into the game. I didn’t get to read the patch notes when it was completed before I logged in. I just wanted to play.

So my first match of the day lasted 1 hour and some odd minutes. Maybe it was an extra 15 minutes but it was at least an hour long. This first match post is going to be a brag fest cause I did not like how arrogant the person seem to have become when he thought he was winning the match. The map Scrap Station. This map only has one Rich Mineral Node location so I guess it was a vital strategy to get it before my other opponent does. Well I pick Random as my race cause I like playing all three different races. I just can’t fit myself to just play one race. So when the game started it randomized me as Protoss. So started to do my thing and built more workers to get the economy going and the usual Pylon, Vespene Geyser, Warp Gate strat. So while the warp gate is warping in the other player sends a probe to scout. My one probe that’s warping everything in is sent to attack it. So it chases his probe half way across the map while I’m warping in units and more upgrades stuff. So he has some Void Rays already as well as Stalkers. I have an army of 6. And so he sends his Void Rays to attack my stalkers destroys that Void Ray and I wait for the rest of the rush. So the first 20 mins of the game was just me defending the rush and rebuilding my ground units while at the same time building up my aerial units. Mainly Void Rays and Carriers. However during that 20 mins I went and got a base set up at the Rich Mineral node area.

Anyway fast forwarding to the defeat, I had 6 bases already which includes the little island at the north part of the map where you need to transport your units there cause there was no other way to get to it. He had tons of Void Rays about 5 Carriers and a massive load of Stalkers. Took out my measly army of 20 which consists of Stalkers, Colossi’s, Templars and some of my aerial units. So he takes out my first two bases, head over to the island take out that base. All the while I’m rebuilding at the south area to warp in my Star Gate. (Please don’t crucify me if that’s not the right term. My memory on the simple things like names of units gets scrambled alot. GUHHH.) So the other player starts to get arrogant and types to the chat, “It’s over.” As he goes and destroys my fourth and fifth base, my three Star Gates are up and I’m warping in 15 of them, with my 6000 resources and 4000 vespene gas. All the while I had 15 Stalkers taking out his Carriers leaving him with 2 Carriers and a few void rays. So when I have only one base left and an army of Aerial units consiting of 15 Void Rays and 6 Carriers I decided to go attack his three bases he had, starting with the neighboring one up to the north. While the army was being sent to get attacked he types to me, “Stop waisting my time.” And yes he spelled it that way. I have that match saved and will screenshot it! So as he was typing to me saying not to “waist” his time, my army of Carriers and Void Rays descended upon this base it full fledge glory! Destroying everything in less than 1 min. Whatever was left of his army came to try to defend and got owned. Then I moved on to his second base and apparently he surrendered after I guess he couldn’t rebuilt any more units.

Usually I don’t brag about my victories but this is an exception. When someone believe they’ve won and not realizing that the other person is ahead of them in resources and bases, it bites you in the ass later. I would’ve gladly surrendered IF I only had two bases but I had 6 bases ready, minerals being farmed for my units. I was NOT going to give up that easily.

With that said that was my first victory of the day. Second match person left first 30 seconds of the game. Made me sad although I was Zerg in that match and it was the same Scrap Station map. Third match, Blistering Sands, and again the game randomized me as protoss. That was a 45 minute game my victory. Fourth match, Lost Temple map, and I think that was a short game as well. Again my victory.

Then the fifth game of the day, Lost Temple map again, and I was Terran and my opponent Protoss. This is where I was like why didn’t I read the patch notes. You use to be able to make the Barracks before anything else. I suppose it was changed to prevent Marine rushes, which is fine by me. I have no problem building the supply depot first then the Barracks. This was a LONG match, I was starting to get a headache trying to defend everything of mine. Protoss player had Colossi in the first 15 mins of the game and it was neck and neck cause he’d take out my units I’d take out his and it’s back to the drawing board to rebuild. Then he started building tons of Void Rays, and figured out my Banshee strat, so I pulled out the Battlecruisers, Vipers and Banshee combo. In the back of my mind there’s no way I should’ve won that battle because he got to one of the rich mineral node first, but I guess he only had two bases, while I was setting up 4. Either way this victory got me my 5 Win Streak achivement for the game and now I wish I had some Ibuprofen.

I now remember WHY I stopped playing SC2 for a while. All the adrenaline rush of not knowing what your opponent is going to do next causes your blood to rush to your head. I now have a headache, so I’m going to find some medicine and take a break outside in the sun for a while. Probably sketch up something while I’m out there.
