I loved the interpretations (none of which I thought were true ;p), and I adored Mary. It was fab to see Sherlock and John reforging their team, and Sherlock actually properly realising that he had work to do on that.
I did not like how they dealt with Molly, and I *really* did not like that they tried to make me laugh about fat, badly made up fanfic writers.
I kinda adored everything except for the moustache, but they got rid of it thank god. I died, DIED at everything.
I didn't like that Molly's fiance is a Sherlock lookalike. But I didn't mind the Moriarty/Sherlock interpretation!! But I guess I wasn't laughing at the fanfic writer cause Anderson's theory was way more ludicrous imo. xDDD
So funny. DERREN BROWN! I died! (do people outside of the UK know who Derren Brown is?)
I loved the 'fake' explanations more than the so-called 'real' one (although who knows what to actually believe?)
And it was all so VERY FUNNY. So many jokes. And Sherlock thinking he could just come back and have a laugh and insult John's moustache, and everything would be ok. And Sherlock saying "mary doesn't like it" ahahahahahaha
Saw it. Loved it. And did my level best to ignore some of the more problematic aspects of the show.
Lestrade was fabulous throughout. As was Mary. And Anderson too -- I love that the Empty Hearse was his club. I was completely with John on every punch/headbut he gave Sherlock at the beginning -- he absolutely deserved every one of them -- but it was nice to see the emergence of more human emotions from Sherlock as the episode went on.
The scenes with Molly were sweet -- and the reactions of everyone at the end to her boyfriend were priceless -- reminded me a bit of that scene in Friends where Rachel starts dating Russ (not Ross!!)
I just had this niggling feeling throughout that they were both pandering to and mocking fandomers at the same time, and it took the edge off an otherwise brilliant episode
Yes yes yes! I'm pretty happy with most of the storyline, I'd say. I loved everyone, including the little shit, Sherlock himself even though he was trolling John the whole ep! Hee.
I didn't feel that they were mocking fandomers (or maybe they are, a little affectionately, idk) but I do think the whole ep is a huge big pile of fanservice by Gatiss. It truly feels like the writers have read all the fanfics and used bits of everything! Maybe I'll feel differently when I watch the episode for the second time! xD
Okay, so someone needs to explain to me what this thing is that we all supposedly missed that gave away how Sherlock survived - something that, now, we still don't really know because all of the theories presented in the ep were exactly that, theories. None of them were presented as what really happened.
I don't think they did give us a complete story on how he faked his death. Cause how do you explain Sherlock's survival in a satisfactory way after 2 years of fan speculations without leaving someone disappointed? So the fake outs were a funny way to address it I suppose.
The last theory do seemed to be the most plausible one - but Sherlock may have fibbed a little to drive Anderson mad. Or Gatiss is just trolling us by using one of our many theories. xD
Yup, that's correct!! You should definitely give it a go. There were some things that I wish could be different, but on the whole, I found it absolutely entertaining and the characters were so much fun to watch. There's also a lot of nods to Doyle's canon if you're into the books.
I'm sorry, I am at the beach with no way to even attempt streaming! I will have to see what I can do when I get home tomorrow. Or wait impatiently for it to pop up in iTunes, lol.
