Adam wanted to steal Kris away from this bar, take him home, and make him the star he knew was there. He would just have to convince him to come home with him for a few days while they untangled any mess the people around him had made.
"That's very sweet of you Adam, but I don't think anyone is hiding me."
"Well there was at least two label representatives here tonight, and from their reactions to your music, it wasn't the first time. Have you been approached by them?"
"Well no. But that doesn't mean a thing. It can take months for them to be allowed to even approach me with an offer." Adam narrowed his eyes. Kris had the great talent to be on the radio, as well as the look, and he had heard the scouts wishing the stone walls around Kris would go away so they could make an offer. Someone was intentionally keeping the scouts at bay, but it wasn't another recording contract.
Time for a different approach. He leans into Kris, placing a hand on his thigh.
"Kris, you are wildly talented. I've seen people come and go, I know what talent lasts the test of time. Trust me, someone is keeping you from the world."
~~
Kris gaped. Adam sounded so sure of himself. He looked down at the hand on his thigh, and gulped.
"If you are only being this nice to get in my pants sir, I hate to inform you I'm not that easy."
"Oh aren't you just adorable!" Adam said with glee. He leaned forward and kissed Kris' cheek. "I'm glad you're not easy. I like to work for it." At that Kris flushed and leaned his head into Adam's chest. Someone behind him cleared his throat loudly. He turned and straightened up at the sight of his boss.
"Kris! What brings you here?" Simon asks and Kris plastered on a fake smile.
"It's my night off, so I came down here to relax and-"
"Play music at a bar you are not contracted to?" Simon said with a snooty air. He loved to throw that damn contract in Kris' face.
"Contract says I can do as I wish on my nights off and that I can play at any bar owned by you. Besides it was Paula's idea to help make sure my new material wasn't going to flop. Play at a different bar, test it and fix it before playing at Idol. You even said you didn't want a repeat of that one night where it all went to hell."
"I see. I shall have to talked to her." He looked at Adam for a moment, lips curled in a sneer. Adam Tensed next to him. "Remember Kris, keep your personal life out of my bars. We need you to keep up an image that you can be with any of them, not just the boys."
"Of course Simon, whatever you say." Simon stared at the pair for a little longer before turning to leave. "Oh and Kris, your ten is almost up, go back and finish up. We will have words later after I have talked to Paula." He finally leaves them.
"Boss man. Sorry about that." Kris smiled apologetically at Adam.
"He seems... Fun. What is he doing here anyway. He said he owned bars, plural."
"He owns like 5 here in town and a bunch more in London. He comes here on nights like these to find talent for his other bars. He made his fortune creating bars with live music, musicians that haven't been discovered yet. A few have gone to be pretty big names, others seem to just stick around, never really going anywhere." Kris broke eye contact with Adam, not wanting him to see the fear that Kris was going to be the latter.
"Kris, look at me. You are not going to be stuck here. Especially nowhere near that man. I will make sure of it." Kris leaned in and kissed Adam. Electricity ran through him. He brought his hand up, tangling it up in Adam's hair. Kris opened his mouth as Adam's tongue butted at his lips for entrance. Cale cleared his throat. Kris broke the kiss and blinked up at his friend.
"Time's up lover boy. Go play a few more songs." He turned to look at Adam. "You sing buddy?"
"I dabble." He said vaguely.
"Want to go on after Kris? Everyone avoids the spot cause Kris is just so lovable and awesome and no one wants to compete with that."
"Oh shut up Cale" Kris said with a blush, tossing his balled up napkin at him.
~~
Adam loved seeing Kris laughed. His faced got all scrunched up, even his nose. It was the cutest thing he'd ever seen. He wanted to scoop Kris up in that instance, but first he needed to convince him Adam would take care of him and tell him what he really was. Adam was dying for a taste of the lovely and adorable Kris Allen.
He was intrigued by the thought of singing for Kris and his evil little boss Simon, whose scent was just wrong and gross. He and his people were known for their signing abilities and you could find more than one in the top 40's right now.
"Sure, why not." Nonchalance, thy name was Adam.
"Great! Now Kris, you need to go, time is up and Ryan is looking antsy."
Kris sighed and left the men sitting at the bar. Ryan was standing on the stage and perked up at the sight of him moving towards the stage. Adam pulled out a small flask and dropped a small amount of the liquid into his drink. If Cale had seen, he said nothing.
Adam watched as Kris took the stage again, and the crowd was already giving him catcalls. He blushed quite adorably and Adam had to stop himself from running up to the stage and claiming him in front of everyone.
"Hey everyone. So I have two more songs for you and then we'll let someone else play for you." There was a smattering of claps. "But remember guys, you can come see me play over at Idol Fascinations Friday and Saturday nights."
He starts strumming away and everyone, Adam included, instantly starts bobbing their heads.
Couple of birds kissing on a corner
Couldn't help but remind me of you
Halfway through dialing in your number
You know it's true I wanted to
Adam reveled in seeing Kris play hoping he could impress him as much as he had been impressed during his song.
The song wound down and Kris smiled at the applause, turning a lovely shade of pink.
"Alright last one. Brand new, finished just last night."
Everyone went crazy during the song but the line that stuck with Adam was one that spoke to him, and one that he would definitely have to ask Kris about.
Did I ever think to tell you that I am a monster?
Definitely an interesting man.
~~
Kris thanked the crowd one last time and Ryan came on stage, his perfect white teeth gleaming in the stage lights.
"Thanks again! Kris Allen everyone!" The crowd hollered and the clapping was thunderous. He waved and stepped off of the stage. He ducked into the back to put up his guitar. When he stepped back out into the main room he was greeted by regulars and congratulations from everyone on the new songs.
He looked up as Ryan introduced the 'bravest guy, Adam Lambert." Kris noted the last name and went to find a spot to watch Adam. Regardless of his talent, Kris knew he would still want Adam.
Adam plugged in what seemed to be an MP3 player and nodded to Ryan.
"Hi everybody. I wasn't planning on playing but decided to be brave and follow the wonderful Kris. So I only have one song for you. I hope you all enjoy it."
The beat started and Kris bobbed along.
Feels like I'm havin' a melt down
Feels like I'm losin' control
Kris gaped. Adam's voice was just unreal. People were staring, coming in from the street, he'll, and even the bartenders had stopped serving. Everyone seemed to move a step closer.
Kris watched as Adam tilted his head back, and Kris could have sworn he saw fangs. It should freak him out but instead he was intrigued. He hadn't noticed them when they had kissed, but he had really noticed little beyond the kiss itself. He ended up shaking his head, clearing the thoughts. It was crazy.
~~
Adam watched as the crowd swayed to the beat, dancing when they could. He knew he should have pulled back a little, but he loved to sing and he wanted to call the while city there, if only to see and hear Kris. Adam could hear every heartbeat, the blood flowing drowning out the music, the pheromones rich in the air. He focused on the song and thoughts of laying out Kris, tasting his sweat and blood? Adam lost himself in the music and let it flow over him.
~~
When the song had ended, the crowd sat in a daze for a moment before exploding with applause, Kris among them. Adam waved at the crowd and stepped away. Hands started flying towards him, to touch and feel him. Adam ignored them all, his eyes intent on Kris. He walked straight to Kris and offered his hand.
"Let's get out of here." Kris nodded and allowed Adam to tug him out of the bar. They both ignored calls of their names. Kris especially ignored the calls from Simon. He wasn't going to get his hands on Adam, especially with one of his contracts.
Adam pulls him out onto the sidewalk and pauses a moment, still ignoring any reaching hands. Deciding on something, Adam pulls Kris down the street and into an alleyway. Spinning Kris, he pins him against the wall.
"Well Mr. Allen, did you like my song?" He asks, close to Kris' ear.
"Loved it." Kris breathes. Adam buries his nose in Kris' neck and breathes in noisily.
"You smell divine." Adam pulls his face up and Kris stares at his mouth.
"Adam-" Adam catches his mouth in a kiss. Kris looses himself in the feeling of Adam's soft lips, wrapping a hand in his silky hair. Adam breaks the kiss too soon.
"I want to take you home with me." Adam whispers to Kris. "I want to help you get famous and keep you by my side."
"Yes, Adam. Take me home." Kris moaned.
"I need to tell you something first."
"Tell me then." Kris blushed at his own forwardness. He rarely went home with people he met at the bars, let alone beg them to take him home. There was just something about Adam, calling to him.
"I am not from around here."
"Like L.A.? That's fine, I'm not either."
"I know." Adam's eyes went soft. "Your accent told me."
"Is it really that obvious?"
"Not really, but I have a soft spot for that accent, so I picked up on it."
"Oh. So, you're not from around here, so?"
"Well, this is going to sound crazy..."
"C'mon man, your can tell me, I won't judge."
"Tell me what you know about vampires?"
"They aren't really living beings, uh, they suck blood, uh, they're immortal..." Adam laughs softly. "What?"
"You are precious. You know what they say about the commercial vampires, that's for sure."
"Adam, just tell me please."
"Fine." Adam takes a deep breath, before looking Kris straight in the eye. "I am what you might call a vampire."
"Ha-ha Adam."
"I am telling you the truth."
"Bull." Adam's unwavering gaze made Kris pause. "Fine, prove it."
"What?"
"Prove it to me. Prove to me you are a vampire." Kris holds up his wrist. "Here, bite me." Adam gulped.
