Ah, that's good. Those injuries could have become much worse... and truthfully, this one has not been out that much since then either.

It's more of a metaphorical statement than anything else... along the lines of learn from history or be doomed to repeat it. If you ignore things that happened previously then... just moving forward, you won't have learned anything... or something to that effect.
