Christchurch is still having aftershocks. BIG aftershocks. Like, consistently up to and over 5.0 on the Richter Scale. At the moment they'll predicting that they'll stop within about a year. So far they've had just over 2,000 quakes since September.
The funny part about this is that this is in fucking Christchurch. The rest of New Zealand is used to earthquakes; New Zealand is actually part of a microcontinent rather than just being islands, and we like to play tectonic plate hopscotch. But Christchurch hasn't experienced quakes in, oh, something like 17,000 years.
Now they're going to be making up for lost time, I guess.
