To my Yuletide buddy:
I'm so very excited to have you writing for me. I can't wait to see how you take my (admittedly rather vague) prompts and turn them into something uniquely wonderful. In an attempt to give you a little more information, I've put together a short summary of my likes and dislikes. I hope it helps.
Likes: Humor, a sprinkling of crack, cathartic hurt/comfort, fluff, and mischief on the part of author and characters. I'm usually up for an AU, with a few exceptions outlined below. Slice of life, adventure, women being awesome, and friendship or family fics a plus. Crossovers, so long as they make sense, are good (for example, mixing Naruto and Bleach usually works far better than mixing 1984 with The Once And Future King).
Dislikes: Explicit violence and rape, main character death, second person POV (please stick to omniscient narrator unless you feel first person makes more sense stylistically). High school AUs stick in my craw, so none of those please. Also, please avoid crack for the sake of crack, eyes-meet-across-a-crowded-room-and-its-twue-wove type romance (unless appropriate for the prompt), and profanity for the sake of profanity.
Requests:
Request 1)
Fandom: Derkholm - Diana Wynne Jones
Characters: Querida (Derkholm)
Details: One of my favorite series from one of my favorite authors, this is a guilty pleasure of mine. As with many of Diana's tales, we get dropped rather in the middle of things, and while that's half the fun, I'd like to see a bit of behind-the-scenes work. Querida is effectively the mastermind behind Derk's taking on the mantle of Dark Lord and the eventual end of the tours, so let's get inside her head a bit, watch her pull strings and be her utterly crafty self. Go wild.
Request 2)
Fandom: Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms
Characters: All
Details: As much as I love fairy tales, what I have in mind is something a little bit different. Take any of the classics you please, turn it sideways, and handle whatever falls out with an appropriate level of crack. Maybe Rapunzel lives in that tower because she's agoraphobic. Maybe Cinderella's stepmother is so obsessed with her daughters' marriage prospects because once they're married they'll be someone else's problem and she can take a long vacation. Frumple me a fairy tale.
Request 3)
Fandom: St Trinian's (2007, 2009)
Characters: All
Details: Have fun with this. Spend time within the venerable halls and record your observations. Let the girls show you around and see if you can't get the inside track on their shenanigans. Be a smartass, be silly, be irreverent.
