Now more than ever...

...I need help.

For once, I don't even feel like giving everyone an earful of the details of what's happening right now. Probably because I'm actually quite ashamed of myself for once.

...Anyways, if anyone is feeling so bold (or bored?) as to give me advice, I'll listen the best I can. But really, I only want advice if you can back it up. I don't ( Read more... )

all i can really do is echo what others have said, hon. i've been struggling myself lately and so am unsure of what i might contribute. i've only been getting any sort of treatment for my depression for two years. i do know this, though --

giving up is the easy way out.

i too have been frustrated on your behalf, watching you zip from medication to medication faster than could easily be followed. it is good to know that you feel your current doctor is really looking at things and paying attention. so i suppose the concern right now is whether or not you are. are you reading the literature that comes with your meds, are you reading about how foods can affect (help/inhibit) medication uptake.

here's a random one -- do you like oatmeal? you were asking L about holistic remedies. oats/oatmeal is one of the primary foods listed for dealing with depression. i can tell my depression's been getting the better of me lately -- i'd stopped having my morning oatmeal. what hard facts? oats and oatmeal -- whole grain, not the quick-cook paste stuff -- take longer for the body to break down, therefore supplying a long-lasting, even energy for the body to burn. this longer supply of energy helps support the body's endorphin levels, therefore stabilizing mood.

and as a plus, you don't get hungry again so fast.

another holistic/food based supplement -- veggies. especially leafy greens and dark green veggies, such as spinach, broccoli, cabbage, and so on. why veggies? it's the breakdown thing again. they take longer for the body to process, contain a lot of water and fiber, and so help supply the body with things it needs to help keep endorphin levels stable.

...wow, i did actually know something! *surprised*

anyway, we're here for you, hon. *hugs* give Shotgun squishes for me, hm?

Oh, you always know lots, you're research-chibi!!! *hugs*

No, I haven't been failing in my reading of small print in pack again (especially with the MAOI, there's a lot to look out for)

I think I'll as my doc about beneficial foods at the next visit.

Unfortunately, I can't stand the texture of oatmeal, but I'll look into finding something to make with real oats that I can eat. Come to think about it, I haven't been eating my normal amount of grains lately because I can't really ..taste them right now. I'll ask mom about that one; she's the cook around here. Something sweet with oats...

veggies... Do snowpeas count? (as a helpful veggie, that is)
