Spring Break

The kids are on Spring Break for a week. Sigh. What is it about Spring  Break that makes everyone's brains electrify? They were normal(ish) people a week ago. For some reason, the temporary cessation of schooling has caused everyone to go MAAAAD. Everyone is in a hideous mood, fighting, acting insane . . . it's like crazy pollen in the air. Bri wakes up furious about nothing in particular and everything from moment one. Tara is doing interpretive dance in my face, and accosting strangers. Dylan is lying on the couch and having existential angst. Everyone is at each other's throats. Bri comes in to whine at me "I neeeeeed an account on Club Penguin again." She has an account on Roblox. One account on one website at a time. This is the deal. We are not changing the deal.

I'm trying to reach this zen place where I understand that I am not the totality of my children's entertainment and comfort . . . and mental health. They must find some of this on their own.

TODAY, however, we did a Science Center trip. This is always a typical break sort of thing to do. We got there late in the day, and only spent a couple of hours. It has gotten a little old there - I understand. They don't change exhibits very often, and we've been a number of times with the same layout. Leaving was a bear and a half. We tried to eat at a restaurant at the Inner Harbor, but the wait was so long, we decided to just head out, and find dinner at a place near home. Traffic was insane. It was a crawl out of the city, and THEN it was crawl down the interstate until we hit our exit. I can't believe this is usual rush hour traffic. It was nuts.

Glad that's over.
