Snapshots Of Real Life Pt. 1

A scene witnessed as I ran errands for work one day.  :)

A man walks down the street.

He has tattoos all up his arms; he wears a ragged, well-loved pair of jeans that end in dirty, workaday boots, and a black tshirt with frayed hem and collar.  A cigarette hangs out one side of his mouth, smoked almost completely down to the filter.  His shaven head has a fine growth of stubble on it.

Further down the street, his woman stands impatiently waiting for him.  She holds their child in her arms, and wears a sour expression as she regards him, shrewishly yelling for him hurry up and take the boy.  She's sick of carrying him, and she doesn't want to let him loose with so many cars around.  A tongue piercing flashes in the wan sunlight as she caws.

The man just smiles secretely as he strolls towards her.  One arm is tucked casually behind his back - from the woman's point of view, it probably looks as though he has it thrust into the back pocket of his jeans.

He says nothing as she continues to harangue him, still smiling his secret smile as he drinks in the sight of her and wanders her way.

From where I walk, I can see that the hand behind his back holds a single red rose.

Made me smile all day long, as it does every time I re-read this piece! *fluffylove*
