It’s new dress time! I’m still working on my red/gold Elizabethan but at the same time, I’ll be making another dress. One made out of this gorgeous blue cotton sateen (lmcbeth found it in a huge shelf of fabric while we were shopping last weekend and saved the day!):

All of the dresses I’ve started/made have been very matchy. My red and gold Elizabethan can pretty much only be worn with very specific shades of red and, well, gold. The blue dress will be very simple so it can be paired with elaborate sleeves and foreparts, all interchangeable for different looks.

In my stash I have three fabrics that I think will go with this blue:

Light gold scrolls:

And the reverse:

I think this might look a little blue/yellow country kitchen but we’ll see.

The same pattern as above but in a tan/copper colorway:

And here it is with the green velvet I bought the other day:

I also have some green/tan fabric that might work but I didn’t have enough time to dig for it this morning. I’m thinking this blue would also look good with silver, brown, and pink. Just think of how much fun it will be to find gorgeous fabric and say "I bet this would look nice with my blue dress" and then I only have to buy a couple yards!

The dress will, in theory, look like the Elizabethan version of this Venetian portrait:

I have yet to wash my fabric but once I do (and iron all 12 yards), I’ll start on the skirt…my favorite part!
