Changed vgradar.com quite a bit in the last few days.
The colors motif is now orange, black, and white. Instead of the colors changing based on what system you selected.
The menu/navigation bar is now a drop down bar when you hover over it. Making it easier to go to where you want to go in a single click.
I scrapped the idea of a release calendar completely. While I believe it was a good idea I just can not do it.
The calendar was clunky and hard to navigate, I do not have the required skill in programing to fix it the way I would like it.
I do not have the energy/ambition to search sites to find every game that is released in a year, the ever changing release dates of games makes it impossible for me to keep the calendars uptodate.
I also don't have the time to update every game for every country, leaving every country but US out in the cold, that is a lot of unsatisfied visitors.
So in replace of calendars I put in news feeds from different sites. The feeds more or less update themselves, meaning I don't have to run around like a chicken with my head cut off looking for new information all the time. They add tons of content to every page and that makes visitors and search engines happy. They update often, again something search engines seem to like. And the news on the feeds are not limited to just one country.
I must say it is quite cool being able to see video game news from multiple sites in one place, very convenient.
If anyone knows a site that has an rss feed and is not on the site already send me a link. Really it doesn't matter how small the site is or even if it is just a blog about video games I can still use it for the "feed of the week" part of the site.
Frankly I don't expect a reply, everyone I have talked to so far has had no ideas, given me sites I already have, or sites that don't have a feed.
There are some minor bugs with the site. It keeps saying I am getting 404s on pages that are not even on the website (there is no fucking do/gameoverview page) or pages that it shouldn't even be looking at (404ing a page that it suppose to look at on a different page). Doesn't seem to effect viewing the page but it is bothersome.
When clicking on a link in the feed it opens the page in a new window instead of a new tab, when attempting to open the link in a new tab it opens the same page your on in that tab. This may have something to do with how feeds work and I might not be able to fix it, or it may have something to do with my feed reader.
