It's time to add onetime presidential hopeful John Kerry to the long list of politicians who have scant understanding of free speech and the Internet.
Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat, said in a
press release [July 20] that he wants to make it "illegal to transmit images of dog fighting, to run websites that cater to dog fighting."
More here:
Sen. John Kerry wants to ban Internet images of dog fighting.
He wants to also ban Web sites about dogfighting and training dogs for dogfighting. Evidently he hasn't been paying attention, because all of that is directly related to dogfighting, which is already illegal. Ironically, it probably stands a good chance of passing -- because while our representatives never seem to be able to get the important shit taken care of, there's always time to pass laws that are blatantly unconstitutional in their scope.
