I'm pretty sure the IT folks here hate me.


IT Guy: "Ensure you have completed the release of your certifications and applied for your annual fee renewal for the continuing education program using the links below ..."

Me (Thinking): There's no way in hell I'm going to pay out of MY pocket to maintain a certification you say I need for something that's not officially even part of my job. Besides, my certification's for life.

Me (Actual response): "FYI, my A+ certification predates the annual maintenance fee requirement."

IT Guy: "DOD rescinded the certified for life certificate and it is only good for the civilian world and not recognized by DOD any longer."

Me: "How can DOD 'rescind' something that's not theirs? I've read through DOD 8570.01-M, and all references to maintaining certification status that I've found are 'as required by certification.' According to CompTIA, certifications issued before January 2011 do not need to be renewed, and my A+ certification was issued in 1998."

I'm going to consider this payback for the update they pushed overnight that broke my computer, requiring me to fish through the Windows registry to fix it.
