Sorry IGN, Assassin's Creed is now complete and you're quite wrong. 7.6? This game is at least a solid 8.5 - 9.0.
I only have three gripes about the game:
1.) Story. It's really good but you don't care about it till the end. In typical Ubisoft fashion lots of the names are foreign sounding and you tend to forget who is who. A second play through will be required to fully understand everything. The "twist" to the game I find highly intriguing, and adds a lot to the story for me. However I think the game would have been better if this "twist" doesn't exist and what happens at the end just flows into the next game. As it stands the game ends with the credits rolling and you're now free to do whatever you want. Unless I missed something. Oh yeah, there is more than one twist by the way.
2.) Ending. This is a bit of a sticking point for me. You've spent most of the game being sneaky and assassinating targets, running from guards, and generally being invisible. So it didn't really make much sense when the last hour of the game is you just running down a gauntlet fighting off an army.
3.) Mission Variety does get a little boring, but every mission has a unique resolution that gives you key information about your assassination. Well maybe not key, but advisable. However, the game is set during the third crusade....what kind of additional mission types would you have? I count 5.
In conclusion, IGN and 1up were right on Enchanted Arms, but Gabe and Gametrailers are definitely more accurate on Assassin's Creed. I'll be first in line to preorder the sequel.
