I am sorry he is suffering so. Are your parent's close by?

Both our parents live in Berlin but each about a thirty minute drive from where we live. He's feeling a bit better tonight, though. His parents might stop by tomorrow to bring him some food, if he's feeling up to it.

Aw, I'm sorry it was so rough yesterday. Is he better today?

He was still having stomach problems this morning, but managed to eat some saltines and crackers in the afternoon. Now the cold is coming out in full force, though. Still, it's an improvement from yesterday.

Ugh. Tis the season for the miserable illnesses, isn't it? Does he have the flu?

Not sure if it's the flu or just some unfortunate combination of things. He hasn't been to the doctor's yet. I'll make him go if he hasn't significantly improved by tomorrow.
