"A pair of jaybirds came up from nowhere, whirled up on the blast like gaudy scraps of cloth or paper and lodged in the mulberries, where they swung in racuous tilt and recover, screaming into the wind that ripped their harsh cries onward and away like scraps of paper or of cloth in turn."
--William Faulkner, The Sound and the Fury
The read-a-thon is now two-thirds gone, and I've finished my second book. It may be only a three-book event for me this time. I think in read-a-thons past it's been twice that number, but then I did have shorter, easier reads and mangas (which may be cheating, really) those times.
I'm glad I read The Sound and the Fury, and although it has given me a lot of thoughts, I don't know that I can put a single one of them down in words yet.
I think it has to be Halliburton next.
