I was in the Bay Area for the past several days, which is my excuse for not having posted the meme promptly. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

There is one, and exactly one, song that has ever made me cry. Not only that, but it has done so consistently. It is "Lullabye (Goodnight My Angel)" by Billy Joel.

Originally, what evoked the emotional response was the fact that the lyrics remind me very much of the relationship I had with my father. I imagine him singing the words to me; I imagine singing the words to my future child, the grandchild that he will never know. It really gets to me.
It turns out that the song is as personal as it sounds. I read somewhere that Billy Joel wrote it for his daughter, Alexa, before he and his wife divorced.
