I started my first online journal the summer before I became a junior in high school, and I stopped writing in it just before becoming a senior. I just went and re-read all the old entries I wrote there, and it was something of an embarrassing experience. I think I must've been far more insecure than I am these days, because every entry I wrote was (if it was positive) immature and affected and superficial or (if it was negative) highly melodramatic and fatalistic. I made such a big deal out of everything!
There were only a few entries that weren't unpleasant to read. But even if the overall journal experience was a little icky, it was interesting to read about things that happened then that are still significant to me now. There was a mention of the day I got my old combat boots which are now so broken they can't be worn. There was a mention of when I got my braces on. There was an entry about when I broke up with Jeff.
I've changed a whole lot since that Blurty. That was interesting to note as well.
