In which we are fruitful

Judy pointed out to me that we have about three gooseberries coming up on our new gooseberry bush. This is very exciting. So long as we don't find any babies under it, I shall be quite happy.

We also have maybe six redcurrants, some rather stringy rhubarb, possibly-a-grape, and lots of strawberry flowers, both wild and tame. Nonetheless, I think we have a way to go before we reach self-sufficiency.

(None of this has anything to do with my icon of Dear Little Victor. He's just adorable.)

Also adorable: weeJosh. Judith Ivey, who's currently prepping to play Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, clearly fangirls him too:

When Edelstein approached her for the role, she was thrilled not only with the chance to finally perform at Long Wharf, but also to work with Josh Charles (The Gentleman Caller), admitting to being “a little starstruck” about him.

“I’m a big fan of ‘In Treatment.’ I said, omigosh, I’m going to get to meet him.”

Bless.

Sometimes I wonder what James Thurber would have made of the internet. I have recently been reminded not only of the Bear Who Let It Alone ("you might as well fall flat on your face as lean over too far backward"), but also of the Very Proper Gander ("anybody who you or your wife thinks might be going to overthrow the government by violence must be driven out of the country"). However, I am too old and tired to argue with people with Convictions, even the ones who're just asking for a slap.

It is not Mother's Day here, we did that months ago. Nonetheless, we are going to see my mother today, which I have no doubt will be ghastly. It always is.

On the upside, I have a day's leave tomorrow so that I can go into Oxford and shop. And in the evening I am going to see the surgery nurse to see if my ongoing shakiness can be attributed to blood pressure. If not, we'll have to look for another answer. Such as what? I dunno. Any ideas?

i have no tag for this, wtf, sick, mad family, weejosh
