We've had a mostly quiet few days here. The big boys have been back at school since last Weds, which is nice because they really need to be with other kids. J and I are back to rambling around together during the morning.
All five of us managed a few hours at the Israel museum last week when there was a free day. I don't think I'd ever been there before. There's a new exhibit about Herod's reign, particularly after all sorts of evidence appeared, confirming that he died years before Jesus was born. Who knew? We didn't manage to see the exhibit, though, because being a free day, the museum was packed. We saw a fair bit of the museum, though, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed, and managed a few minutes at the Shrine of the Book so that B and M could see the Dead Sea Scrolls.
I finally had that other filling replaced last week. Ouch. The anesthetic really hurt going in and the whole left side of my face was one big ache once it wore off. Ouch. The main problem now is that I can't floss between that tooth and the one in front of it. And it's a problem, because (as my dentist likes to say) you should only floss between the teeth you want to keep. I finally went down there today to discover that my dentist and his brother (another dentist) have flown to South Africa for a week to attend a wedding. Bah. The assistant was there, though, and found me a little gadget that looks like a sewing needle. Basically, I have to "thread" the needle with floss and then run it between those two teeth, but from below (from the inside), clean in between and then gently pull the floss up. She said it should go in better in a week or so but if it doesn't I have to come back so he can trim back part of the filling and create more space.
After the dentist, I took J to the park. That's where we were when the siren went for Yom Ha'shoa (Holocaust Remembrance Day). Really amazing to watch the country come to a halt. A friend of mine posted the following video on Facebook and I'm going to repost it here.

B seems to be doing much better socially these days. He's social/emotional maturity seems to be catching up and it's a real pleasure to watch. Twins from his class - a boy and a girl - came over after school today. I put J into bed for a nap and the other four had lunch together, then played and now they're at the park. B also seems so much more confident these days. He used to have such trouble with things like initiating anything socially, or making phone calls to arrange to see friends. I'm really amazed.
M is happier at school these days. He seems to have so much energy and is unbelievably affectionate (still) and cuddly. He's taken to making me these ridiculously creative snacks - like crackers with hummus, walnuts, sliced apples and cinnamon on top. He's constantly brushing my hair and hunting around for white hairs.
D took B and M to Bethlehem on Saturday, which took up the whole morning and part of the afternoon. They were impressed, though they did have to wait an awfully long time to see the whole church. About an hour after they returned home, I took them up to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening at my aunt's. Was really nice to watch them interact with Gramma - real memories being created in front of my eyes :-)
My sil's daughter got her visa! Sil is in Serbia right now, reunited with her little girl and getting her ready to move to Florida next week. I can hardly believe it's finally happening.
