so this is the college that everyone told me was going to be so difficult? the one where i'd actually have to study to make good grades? the one i've spent my entire life preparing for? the pinnacle of my learning experience?
fuck that.
let me give you 2 instances that will hopefully illustrate my point. the first is in english class - we were given an assignment to write about something that changed our life. i wrote about forcibly moving in with my father, an event that changed me drastically. when we went around the room to share our topics, everyone other than me either wrote about a trip to guatemala, a physical injury, or coming to Christ. what the fuck? one guy actually wrote about how he tore his acl last thursday and it has changed his life. that's all i have to say about that.
next example - physics. in a 300 person lecture class, there are bound to be stupid people, but man, are these guys dumb. out of 6 days of class, 5 days have begun with the same questions about his syllabus that is posted online. that's not that big of a deal, but then he moves on to notes, which he reads directly from his website that is posted online - and almost everyone in the class takes notes. it's ONLINE. also, his notes are available for purchase at baxter street bookstore. people buy them. i'm not sure if i mentioned this, but everything he says or prints is ONLINE FOR FREE. this is brought up almost every class period, and everyone laughs - and then takes out pen and paper to make a thourough note about it.
this is amazing.
i love college.
