I bought a new hat today

Jan 31, 2005 01:56

I bought a red and white quicksilver trucker-type hat. I wanted something to wear at work, and they only let us wear quicksilver ones cuz our uniforms were sponsored by them. Also, the mesh air vent-iness is nice too when it's hot.

I talked to Jenne (Ryan's counterpart) yesterday about him leaving and about who would fill his position. Ya see, there are three people in our department who'd be ready for it. Sam, Dave, and me. Sam is a British intern, so he'll be gone in a few months. Dave is the youngest of the three (19, I think) and he lacks the availability. I, on the other hand, have full availability and am a nice round, almost 21. Jenne and Ryan's recommendation to their boss is (drum role...) ME! Now, that's not any sort of guarantee (I am trying not to jinx this like I did the RPR thing), but it's still good news. I am going to be meeting with Mark (the boss who nobody likes, but I don't think he knows it) sometime soon, maybe next week to talk about it.

I'm watching Jerrie Maguire on TBS. That's a really great movie. I love that little kid with the glasses... "the human head weighs eight pounds..." Haha!

I was reading about the elections in Iraq today. Pardon me, but that is just fucking great! I was really fearing the worst, but overall, things turned out ok. I heard that only 40 or so people ended up being killed. Now, don't read this like I am saying that is not a big deal. When I think about my own self, my past, my future, my dreams, my ambitions... that's just the one me. Every life is still precious, but, God, it could've been so much worse. Something I looked up out of curiosity: World War 2 lasted a grand total of 6 years. In all, 56,125,262 lives, military and civilian, were lost. That comes down to an average of 25,627 human lives lost per day. That kinda puts perspective on what's being called the "bloodiest day of the war," in which about 37 American soldiers were lost. During WW2, also on average, over 340 American soldiers alone died every day. Well, enough statistics.

The movie's over, so I think I'll go to bed now. Later.
