the runaway bunny

Nov 17, 2008 21:20

last night i was over near clarke parke with the puppy.

put her out in the back yard of a house she'd never been to before

came out maybe half an hour later to find her gone.

this was 7:15ish.

cue montage of crying, biking endless loops of endless philly streets, all occupied by people with no information, or vague and conflicting recollections of seeing a dog that could have been her, or could have been any other dog, ever.

so at 1 am i go home, tired like woah, mildly hypothermic, and emotionally drained. summon up some reserves and find i can sob quite a bit before collapsing into bed, alone and with no puppy sleeping next to my chest.

this morning at 9:50 i get a call from the vet. someone found her, fortunately still wearing her rabies vaccine tag. a nice lady named ramona, who left her phone number.

as i call her up and make arrangements to go pick her up (crying and thanking her profusely) and then call up some of the folks who had very generously helped me scour west philly for the puppy, some details click into place - namely that this is the woman who rescued my dog:

so the real question is:
if i make a pie to say thank you, it needs to be a raw, no-refined-foods kind of pie, right?
