here's what i've been up to lately:
hey mom and dad--
how are you? i hope things are going well at home. i miss you guys a lot
and think about you often. my days are busy though, and i never seem to
have enough time to call before i leave in the morning, and you're
probably not awake when i roll back into the apartment at 11pm... i will
try to get ahold of you sometime soon though.
school is going so well!! i LOVE it. my classes are all very theraputic
this semester, and i have enough time to breathe in between. there is time
for the bass and i've also started reading books and hiking again. it's
really wonderful.
i had my first lesson earlier today and it was very reassuring. we mostly
talked about my goals [or lack thereof] and how we should proceed with my
bass study. nicholas got me going on a new set of strings that are much
softer and easier to play on, though i need to work on getting my own set
within the next couple of weeks... and a new endpin like i tried in high
school with him. it allows me to stand up straight and move around the
bass without as much effort. he assured me that it's okay that i don't
know what i want to do with my life, and we'll work on figuring it out
this year, using the bass as a tool to learn about myself. i don't know if
i will be going to grad school next fall. [that's not something that he
decided for me... it's something that i've been thinking about on my own.
i don't know what i want to do my masters' in, and it doesn't seem logical
to just keep doing what i'm doing if it isn't making me happy.] but i'm
excited about the future, whatever it might be.
i wish i could come home this weekend, but i am cat sitting for my friend
sayer. [she was one of the student teachers at the recital last spring,
with the short red hair.] she has two adorable kitties. Thandi is a baby,
about Terrapin's age, and Chester is a couple of years old. they are a lot
of fun to be around.
also, i might go to musefest tonight and tomorrow night in newfield. a lot
of great local bands are playing and there is a really nice family
atmosphere there. it doesn't cost much money, so it seems like a good way
to spend the weekend. kelly, gene, and the kids will be there, along with
some of my friends from school.
i think that's about all i wanted to tell you... i'm going out to dryden
in a few minutes to walk this really great trail, and i have feldenkrais
class this afternoon. :)
oh. when is the mexico-us soccer game?? is it on the 9th? i want to come
home next weekend. could we tape it and watch it together?
i love you!!
