The Palm Beach Story - (11/13) Brilliant comedy, coming on the tail end of a great run, Sturges pokes fun at the rom-com genre, then fulfills all the expectations. Silly. Sexy. Shakespearian.
The Lady Eve - (9/13) Rated more highly than Palm Beach Story but far less winsome. 1 star for Fonda. 8 stars for Stanwick
The Producers - (5/13) Its no surprise that the play was a hit, Mel Brooks' style seem far too large for the screen. That, and (taking a page from Mama Cass' book) he strangles his good jokes with ham and cheese.
Rio Bravo - (10/13) Pure testosterone. Tarantino is on record saying it's his favorite film.
McCabe and Mrs. Miller - (5/13) Subverts every part of the Western, even the parts of the Western that we like.
Harvey - (5/13) Jimmy Stewart is wonderful, insanity is inherently boring.
Possible Worlds - (7/13) As unbelievable as it is, being a brain in a jar is inherently boring. In case you ever wanted to know, this is what hell must be like.
