....ok so 2 weeks ago (wow, how time flies)....i left oneida on a saturday night, to head out to fredoina to see my lovely, and to do some last minute packing before we left on our endevor. the next morning was spend in bed..ALL of it. which was a great way to start the trip, we finally got the last bits and pieces loaded, and we hit the road around 1 in the afternoon. that day we made it through the rest of new york (a whole of 1 exit on the thruway) and through the tiny bit of pennsylvania. all the way though ohio, and indiana, and through the bastard city of chicago.
now i hate driving through chicago, every time i drive it, it sucks ass. and this time was no different. they are doing construction on EVERY INTERSTATE THAT GOES INTO THE CITY. how fucking stupid is that. oh well, good thing we made it through, to rockford Ill. around 10pm. not bad for day one.
rockford was a cool town, we got a hotel room, and the next morning, walked around a japanese zen botanical garden. it was beautiful, and hotter that a mother fucker. after the garden we headed over to a natural history museam, which was air conditioned and had dinosaur bones in it (lauren knows how to tap into my 8-year old self pretty well). so after the museam we hit the road again, around 3pm. we drove the rest of the way through Ill. into wisconson. and into minnesota.
we got to my friend rachel's place around 8:30-9. and then took a LONG walk around rachel's part of minneapolis. the next day was spent checking out the city, walking around, going to restaurants and shops, and a really cool comedy troup thing for $1.
the next day rachel had to get to work early, and lauren and i left around 11am. it was raining balls. and we got to the festival site 4pm or so...maybe later. i dont remember. we found a decent site and struggled with the tent for anhour. and then these assholes from Mass. showed up and rained on our parade. the next day we found a better spot, packed our shit up and moved. the rest of the time was spend checking out bands that included (kellar williams, string cheese incidend, phil lesh and friends, G.R.A.B., medeski martin and wood, railroad earth, the breakfast, and a slew of other bands that i cant remember.)
then comes sunday, i must have woken up REALLY early, and we had the site packed up and were on the road by 10:45am. we made it to indana that night, and then to buffalo the next day, and then i drove home, to go to work a week ago today.
all in all it was an amazingly fun time. if you have any questions feel free to ask me
