Long live the Emperor.

As you're likely aware, I've been playing a fuckton of Star Wars: The Old Republic lately. Like, at least a little every day since December 16. I'm really, really enjoying it. I know that I tend to lose myself in an MMO at launch, then emerge a couple months later with a memory of some time well-wasted and only vague, occasional desires to ever ( Read more... )

Rrrrocket Punch!

I fell in love with that move so quickly and has since become my preferred, though unrealistic finisher in my Powertech's rotation. Funny coincidence, no? As well are a lot of the things you love and were surprised by with the game. I'm not as far in as you are, though, but I'm really liking it so far. Mostly because I'm playing both sides and loving each one so much that I'm torn about that I should be doing! This is a pretty awesome thing, though.

My quote-main-unquote is a Miraluka Sage, specced for healing. She's a pretty, round-faced black woman with short grey hair and a lovely purple silk veil over her nonexistent eyes. I was concerned when I picked body type 4 for her, but I think she looks great. Now were she a Knight and used heavy armor, she'd look chunky! I know this because I experimented that in creation with my Bounty Hunter and it just didn't look right. Type 2 was a good medium for that. I thought it looked TOO skinny, but decked out in some heavy plate and you start to look pretty great. Type 4 for a light armored Consular/Inquisitor makes you look more like a full-figured woman. I love that, whereas type 4 for males is just a blimp. Not such a big fan of that at all.

I'm pretty light side with my Jedi, but in an interesting way. I've been playing her less goodie goodie and more zenlike. Recently I faced the new apprentice of Darth Lachris (I want her robe for my Inquisitor so bad. It's so fucking pretty!) and opted to try and turn him away from the dark path instead of instigating him into a fight. It was fun because instead of getting all preachy and saying "Turn from this darkness!" I simply reasoned with him and didn't even have to fight. It was a most satisfying result. Darth Lachris later expressed a desire to rip my heart out for costing her an apprentice, which I think was just terrific.

When my Act I ended, and I realized what my next task was, I was even happier. It felt like the end of my Act I was like my Episode I. This literally is the saga of my character. Not to mention how INTENSE that fight was. A friend said it best, this was the definitive "This is Star Wars!" battle for my character. It's so exciting!

I'm pretty confident that this game will be my preferred timesink for a while. I still don't play AS much for a lot of reasons, but a little bit with friends every day is always something I strive for. I'm giddy to know you're loving it as much as I am. After getting burned out on Rift so quickly, I'm happy to see that we both found something fantastic in this game.

I hope Justin has been being nice to Vette! :p

Body type 4 is definitely my preferred type for chicks, but then I like my girls full-figured. Chunky, even ;P The other body types don't appeal at all: 1 is stickish and 3 is just bizarre, not even mannish so much as ill-proportioned. 2, though, I think I can manage. As for male characters, well, I don't generally make 'em. I prefer to play females. J's got a male, though: a big, pink twiilek with polka dots on his lekku named Chubby D'lite. He's cute :D

But yeah, I agree, the story's been wonderfully worth it, and given that there are eight separate stories, well... there's a lot of fodder for altaholics like me, even if we ignore the fact that there are sixteen classes and choices can, at least in small ways, affect your story.

I forget what server you're on. If you tell me, maybe I'll roll something Republic side over there.
