A few days ago, I caught a story on the news about a murder out in Berks County. They had arrested a subject. The station I was watching reported the guy's name as Steve Austin. Now, however, the stories I'm finding online say that the identity of the suspect (or "person of interest" if you prefer) has not been released. What the hell? It's the most interesting news story I've seen in a while, all silliness aside, and now the single detail that intrigued me is being withheld? Ugh.
Well, if it turns out to actually be a guy named Steve Austin, my brother, mother, and I are all agreed that there is a very good chance it is someone we know, someone we used to live with. Former step-brother would be the easiest way to explain it, but his father and my mother were never married. We just all lived together for seven years. It wouldn't surprise any of us to learn he's killed someone. Not at all.
Edit: I have found
an account that confirms not only the name, but also the age of the suspect. Sounds about right. The only thing is the "younger brother" bit. Unless said brother had lived with his mother, which is entirely possible, that would mean it's not who I think it is. On the other hand, the way he treated my brother, who was, for a time, his younger brother, also makes the idea of him killing his younger brother sound dead on. And
another story confirms my guess that the brother lived with the mother, reinforcing my suspicions.
Second Edit: Man, is it wrong of me to be disappointed upon finding
something that indicates this might not be the kid I used to know? It says his dad's name was Charles. It should have been Jack or John Jay. Damnit.
