i'm watching planet earth again, because i was feeling sad and down again yesterday and david attenborough is just awesome. and i cannot get over how amazing the world is. how did the panda evolve to feed on bamboo, if bamboo is so nutritionally empty? humpback whales are utterly massive and they eat tiny krill, billions of krill every mouthful and yet there's more than enough krill to keep the cycle going - and how amazing is the male emperor penguin incubating his egg through the frozen antarctic winter? just - *flail* nature is fabulous. the world is fantastic. i could watch this series over and over again and never tire of it. (i only wish my father had been alive to see it, because he would have LOVED it.)
