change of plan
So instead of going to the movie we went to the Drag Queens vs. Dykes softball game (the Pride kickoff event) with bork (who we ran into in a coffee shop. this happens surprisingly frequently.) It was indeed hilarious and contained all of the following:
Eventually the score was lost track of and the Dykes won because someone actually bought the game (apparently Dykes fans are doing well even in this economy).
It was awesome. Y'all need to come by next year. <3
- marching bands
- dyke wrestling
- drag queens leapfrogging around the infield
- lesbian frog jokes (well, one)
- a door prize of 'five dykes for five hours and one of them has a pickup truck' (i did not win this and i am SAD. Ms. Leather 2009 was selling the tickets. omgHAWT.)
- softball being played in thigh high go-go boots (and angel wings!)
- a disco break in the eighth inning (YMCA dance)
- even numbered innings conducted in a pay-for-play fashion where for donations of various sizes people could buy base hits, home runs, outs for the other team, game play with various 'handicapping' strategies (batting on one's knees, pitching with finger puppets on, fielders catching with umbrellas, bases run backwards, etc.)
- odd numbered innnings showcasing some surprisingly good softball skills
- fabulously punny names for all concerned (highlights: Ivana Lickbush, Tasha Salad, Miso Soup, Amanda Wreckonwith, Fannie Flambe, Boobs (there were tons of other ones but i forget them))
- a dance routine done to RuPaul featuring a hairspray finale
