I believe that the only people who benefit from the dieting mentality are those who are part of the dieting/weight loss industry.

And I hate it that when I want to just enjoy my food it feels, often, like a deliberate act of rebellion. Because I live in America, my head is jammed with a silent chorus of "How many calories?" and "You shouldn't eat that!" and other nonsense. I've never dieted in my life and I still can't silence those embedded voices.

I can, and do, defy them. Daily. And I'm much happier for it.

I love you. <3 A whole year! And we haven't eaten each other's brains. It feels so weird, so much time and so little.

(I did not send you the last link, but it is awesome.)

(I realize that I need to make an icon for posting to you. I will have to find one.)

Padma was me--I posted it on my Twitter :) Unless someone else posted it as well, which would be an amazing coincidence!

What I hate so much about the weight-loss-cult-mentality-disguised-as-health is the idea that being "fat" (by whatever that person's definition is, whether it's a size 8 or 28) is a character flaw. Like if you were a better person, you'd be thinner.

Then elopement thing reminds me of my high school anthro teacher telling the class about a time she got angry with her little brother and sent him on a train to Brussels when they were kids. She lied and told him he'd be meeting their aunt there or something.

Also, hello! I've been kind of scarce lately, but I hope things are going all right for you.

I'm alright, pretty much. How are you doing? Anything you want or need? I'm collecting some things for you and will send them when I have enough to fill a box ...
