A couple of days ago I went to McCaffery's, a grocery store, to get medicine for Adam and some food. I didn't have any cash or a debit/credit card. I walk up to the cashier, and she is counting money and doesn't look up or acknowledge me for over a minute. She scans my items.

"Can I have a pen to write a check?"
"Do you have a McCaffery's card?"
"No"
"You need a McCaffery's card to pay with a check."
"That seems like a bizarre requirement."
Rolling her eyes, she condescendingly says, "No, we need...."
"No, I understand that that's the requirement, but it's bizarre to require a card to write a check." (I raise my voice for this, other customers look over) "I'm not paying for this; I'm leaving."

I then storm out of the store and go buy his medicine somewhere else. Businesses are not going to intimidate me into being monitored. Similarly, my concerns will not be dismissed so casually.
