No matter how many toys were sold, or how many awful cartoons were released, GoBots just sucked when compared to Transformers. This is a fact of life that cannot ever be changed. Why did GoBots suck? Ugly, ugly designs that were quite goofy combined with stupid character names. Plus, GoBots commercials were quite lame.
As evidence, let's look at this commercial for the Power Warrior. A neat idea -- individual "suits" that existing GoBot toys slip into, the whole the combined to create one robot -- that was poorly executed.

And then consider this commercial for the first Transformers combiner:

The GoBots commercial has a very short piece of poor animation that doesn't excite anyone while the Transformers commercial has a (slightly) longer animation segment that looks as good as the cartoon did at the time. Plus, the Constructicons are that awesome shade of puke green.
And time is on my side as well. I don't see any GoBots relaunches on the market, while some form of Transformers has been available almost constantly since 1994 (there were a few dark times here and there, but usually no more than an 18-month break).
GoBots sucked then, suck now, and will suck forever.
