I've thought a lot recently about self reflection and writing.  Interesting how livejournal has developed isn't it?  Its claims are so broad, and at first glance it seems like a great idea.  I remember when I mentioned to one of my cousins when I was back in Canada last year the fact that I had a blog, she reacted enthusiastically and told her

Wow david. I really like what you have said. It really is amazing how little people communicate now adays. I'm gonna sound like an old granny but, think about how when people use to not have telephones and they had to travel to that person's house and speak with them. Personal communication is lacking so much now that it's hilarious - only in a bad way. We now have telephones where we can hang up at anytime, IM where we can block or put up an away message to deal with those who are bothering us, or list sort phrases to get across a general meaning. Rarely do people just go over to someone's house to talk. If people would just listen to each other there would be less of a need for counselors and physcologists. Just look at the divorce rate! It's like 49% i think that people get divorced. People no longer communicate and aren't willing to deal with each other because there are so many ways out. It works both ways like you said, blogs only let you say whatever is on your mind, but if no one reads it or even cares what that person has said, blogs because useless.
About the I and you thing - sometimes those who use "you" a lot are those that really need more help on the inside. They see clearly the problems/needs/wants of the other person but cannot always see the inside of him/herself. I think the most mature person is someone who can use I and you and possibly society in general as well. I think people tend to believe they are the only ones in the world or that their problem is singular. We lose touch with everyone and look only to the immediate around us. But don't think i'm a hypocrite though, you shouldn't conform to society either. I like your use of the magic eye picture. sorry i ramble too
