So Marcus was visiting this week and left early this morning. We had a pretty nice time, except for one incident which I shall recount:
He has an internship out on the Cape this fall, so Thursday we drove out to Eastham to take a look at the Cape Cod National Seashore. After poking around there for a while we decide to drive up to Wellfleet. We drove along Route 6, which is a two-lane highway, when I saw the gaudiest souvenir shop EVER on the left. Naturally I had to stop, so I put on my signal, several people pass us in the breakdown lane, and then someone smashes into us from behind going about 40 mph, and pushes us 20 feet.
Their car's totalled, ours probably is, which sucks because we just got this car 6 months ago because Alex destroyed the last one.
It was one of those accidents that holds up traffic for miles. We had a ton of police cars, several ambulances, and a firetruck. After a while, Marcus' neck started hurting, so we got taken off in an ambulance. Some EMTs put a huge brace on his head, strapped him to a board, strapped the board to a stretcher, and put huge pads all over his head. We spent about 3 hours in Urgent Care at the Cape Cod Hospital, but no bones are broken. We both have bad whiplash because both seats tipped straight back on impact (potential lawsuit?) and I have a hurt wrist, but the people at the hospital said we were pretty lucky, considering the crash.
