Last night was the quarterly Boy Scout awards potluck for our troop, the Court of Honor.
It was a good night. My 11-year-old received his Golf merit badge, and earned the rank of Second-class scout (which follows Scout and Tenderfoot), and then about 4 minutes later earned his rank of First-classs scout (you can work on the requirements concommitantly). He's also now his patrol's offical scribe, which means he'll report on their activities for the troop newsletter.
My 13-year-old received merit badges for Personal Fitness, Environmental Science, and Camping. He also earned his Life Scout rank, which is the second-highest rank in scouting. He's up to 17 merit badges. He got a certificate for having been the Chaplains Aid (leads prayers and scout pledges), a patch for Bear Paw, and is now the official Patrol Leader for his patrol. Both boys were very pleased and got support from lots of places.
