I heart the Internet!
I just discovered Google Earth. Woweee! It's so cool! I found le 'ol shanty shack in Singapore and showed it to my ESS kid! I miss it so! I pointed out the mango trees, rambutan trees, bannana trees, and coconut trees, and I started salivating. We are moving away in October because The Mother can't do walk-ups anymore and the le 'ol shanty shack is about to fall apart. Gwyn and I must have done something good because we are totally going to be neighbours! I'm pleased as punch but the gurl is still living in Sydney and I'm going to be in Tokyo and Beijing (I'm aiming to be a translator/interpreter of the 2008 Olympics). Gyaaaah. Star crossed. But I think we can be bona fide neighbours during Spring Break next February when we are both back in SIN city! Yay!
In other news, I totally lost it when I was giving my farewell speech yesterday. I couldn't stop crying for 10 minutes after too! Now all the kiddos think I'm a crybaby. They are sweet, now everytime they pass me in the hall they yell "ganbatte!"!!! Hahahha. Saying goodbye is difficult. I can't imagine how hard it must be for people who actually love their school. I don't have strong feelings for mine and already I'm quite a wreck. I'm definitely going to miss my office chief, all the office staff (them giving me cake, etc, has nothing to do with why I love them. They are the sweetest people and have helped me so much with daily life stuff that I'll always remember them), Nishida sensei, Fujimoto sensei, all the teachers at Oya High and some other incumbents at Yoka.
Lots of packing to do. I'm looking forward to getting all my stuff out of the shanty shack so I can clean it! Only less than 2 weeks till I go back to Singapore to party with Dr Marsha Ma before she heads off to LALAland! Have I mentioned that I'm so proud of her? Yeah!
