Captain Vorpatril's Alliance covers
Spotted on the Bujold List - the cover art for Captain Vorpatril's Alliance from the artist's site, here. It's a bit vague, just a random SFnal city with flying cars; doesn't look like Komarr, but I could believe it was Barrayar, since there's a river.
Much more interestingly, some of his earlier drafts of the cover are also up there, and you can find them all here (I think they say 'Cryoburn' so that the artist could see what they would look like with a title in the middle). Apparently the blue person is Rish, the half-sister and servant, and the woman is Tej. Ivan looks remarkably seedy in some of them, and they both look fairly debauched in this one. But I'm most intrigued by this cover - who is the bald guy? Is Ivan carrying him or wrestling him? Is he in Barrayaran uniform? And what on earth is Tej waving around? And are they all in freefall? Questions, questions...
