Fic: Lie Back and Think of Barrayar

So here's the other forced-to-share-a-bed cliché fic I mentioned, though this one's actually really very gen. Also, it's all Avantika's fault, because she said she didn't see how I could write a non-AU fic in which Aral and Alys wound up in the same bed, and then promptly suggested this plot bunny

Thanks! Cordelia laughed a lot when Alys told her. And then she got to tell Aral, who had no memory of any of it the next day except a vague feeling something was wrong (Alys got up long before Aral did, and very prudently decided to be a long way away before the hangover kicked in).

An ingenious application of canon to a crack/AU situation! In fact, I don't even see this as crack. A sweet, charming gen fic which was very in-character for both of them. Of course both Aral and Alys will do anything for Barrayar, even share a bed. ;)

Well, I did try to make it as plausible as I could, but the plot is very definitely in the service of the trope rather than the other way around.

This whole story had me giggling. Cordelia would get an immense kick out of it too, I'm sure.

Thanks! The whole thing popped into my head whilst walking back from taking my son to school (I do a lot of my fic-composing then) and I couldn't stop giggling at it either.

This fic makes me giggle every time I read it. I liked the last line, and I loved the bit about the drains!

Of course Alys was sensible enough to get up early and escape long before Aral opened his eyes, but poor Aral next morning! I'm sure the subsequent conversation where Cordelia explains it to him would have been tremendous fun.

Aral got back to Alys' flat, where Cordelia and Miles were staying until the drains got sorted out, in the early evening, just as the painkillers were wearing off. He went in and found Cordelia supervising Miles and Ivan as they competed on a computer game. Miles, he saw with a flicker of pride, was winning
