That episode just blew me away.
Brilliant plot, brilliant character interactions, fantastic writing and acting (and I note Amelia Bullmore did both, wow she is talented, not to mention incredibly gorgeous, I think my crush on Paul McGann may have to take second place to this one). They threw everything at this one, but it worked. I saw the slavery thing coming, I did NOT see Rachel's mother dying coming and wow that was done so, so well. Oh Rachel holding it together, oh Rachel and Alison in the cafe with totally inappropriate and necessary laughter and the DONOR CARD, and it was all so totally realistic and perfect. And Rachel at work, seeming really good and competent at the briefing, and then Gill ripping her to shreds over the things she missed, and knowing when she's smoking down the phone, and oh Rachel do your damn risk assessments for God's sake.
And oh oh oh the whole thing with Janet calling Julie and Julie coming in like a vet to check Gill's teeth, and Gill losing it and Julie slapping her down and oh Gill :-(.
And Janet! Janet suspended from duty and being investigated and everything going horribly wrong for her. And Rachel being protective of her, and Janet being the one who breaks down crying, that was such a gorgeously heartbreaking scene. I'm sorry, I can't do coherent reviews right now, but that episode was amazing and it's going to be a long wait till next week.
