So I thought about these, and I decided that Molly probably has tried to kill Nightingale (there's something about the way Nightingale explains that there's only a one in five chance of surviving doing haemomancy with Molly that suggests personal experience), and I think that the only way it would be too late for Lewis to apologise to Hathaway is if one of them was dead, so I decided to go for my very first ficlet for Scott & Bailey. And I decided what Gill and Rachel needed was the application of large quantities of alcohol and trauma to make that situation possible, and fortunately canon provided me with both at the end of S3:

*

"Another bottle?"

Rachel set her glass down unsteadily and sat up, but Janet shook her head. Spoilsport. But she was probably right. And Rachel had decided to stop fighting with her.

"Haven't got any more," she said instead.

Gill flopped back on the bed, her head landing on Rachel's lap. "So get some, you daft bint." Her voice was surprisingly clear. Rachel was jealous. If she was that wasted, she'd be absolutely incoherent.

"Yeah, blame me, that's right," Rachel retorted, mock-glaring at Janet.

"I've been through major trauma here, I'll have you know," Gill said, and laughed, with an edge to it. "I need another bottle. You're too cheap, that's your problem, Rachel. Cheap little bitch."

"I am not!"

"Then get another bottle." Gill rolled her shoulders and her head tilted against Rachel's thigh, and Rachel realised she was petting Gill's hair, unconsciously. She stopped, Gill mumbled protest, and she started again.

"In a minute," said Janet peaceably. She was lying alongside Gill on the bed, hand propped up on her elbow, watching them. Gill sighed, and closed her eyes. Rachel relaxed a little when her boss wasn't watching her, even her utterly wasted boss, and let her fingers twine in Gill's hair again. A few minutes later, Gill began to snore.

This is brilliant! :) I don't usually read Scott&Bailey -it was simply a tempting prompt to offer because it's basically the only fanfic where I'd expect heavy cussing & cursing- but I think if you wrote more I might give it a try. *tempting smile*

My favourite part is the gentleness of the scene despite the searing. :) And I do love that you added Janet, too. I felt bad for leaving her out as soon as I'd set the prompt. :)
