First off, the Bujold Ficathon is up and running this year, so please do go along, leave prompts, write fics and tell all your friends!
All details are here. Second off, 'Scott and Bailey'. SO MUCH LOVE. I've watched the first season and wow, the characters. DC Rachel Bailey is the lead, a constable on the Major Incidents team who's about half a step away from complete disaster most of the time, except for the times she's brilliant. Her partner is DC Janet Scott, who is, according to Rachel, a real grown-up and who's extremely good at her job. And their boss is DCI Gill Murray, who is deeply scary, brilliant, and good friends with Janet. And together, they fight crime. There's rather a lot of relationship drama involved, slightly more than I'd like, but so far I'm thoroughly enjoying it all the same. Janet is particular is a fantastic police officer, the steady, consistently capable counterweight to Rachel's mixture of brilliance and disaster. And Gill is just everything I love. The murder mysteries are a bit darker and grimmer and have more on-screen maggots than on other crime shows I've watched (a notch or two grimmer than Lewis, and also much more realistic and pedestrian) but it's not too dark for me and I'm fairly sensitive to that.
Also, on my current 'everything is better with magic policemen' mental theme, I now want the crossover where Peter and Nightingale cross paths with the Manchester Major Incident Team.
