• Thank you: aerynsun5, autumn_faerie, cherazz22784, halfdutch, locknkey, modmerseygirl, nutmeg3, raynemaiden, and txvoodoo for the various birthday wishes and generous gifts. ♥

Nothing remarkable about the day itself, really, although there was good sushi, and steamed dumplings, and cake. Of course, cake.

• Saturday I was supposed to see Glen Phillips live, which I was thinking of as a sort of belated birthday celebration. But he's come down with laryngitis, so the show was cancelled - something I didn't find out until after I'd already come home from work, changed, put on makeup, did my hair, then sat down at the computer to check my email while waiting for my friend to come pick me up. Then I see the email about the cancellation, and rescheduled dates in May. Much texting back and forth between friends ensued. In the end, we agreed to try for one of the rescheduled shows (just waiting for word from one person as the new dates are both weekdays and trickier to work around). And Jaime and I decided to grab dinner around here and see a movie, so the night wasn't a complete bust.

Had two awesome glasses of Shiraz (enough to make me heavily tipsy... which, erm, yeah, okay... drunk) and a smoked salmon, spinach, and feta crostini sandwich at a wine bar. Then we went to see The Artist. Sweet film. Predictable but fun. The dog was obviously the best part. :) The worst part was when someone answered and talked on his phone. During a silent fucking film. Can you believe it? Well, yeah, I think we've all encountered similar rudeness by now. Still, flabbergasting.

• Jeopardy recently informed me of an audio recording of The Tempest with Sir Ian playing Prospero. I think I missed at least a half dozen of the clues/questions that followed, as much flailing and hunting down info. on this recording took my attention away from the trivia. (Have I mentioned that The Tempest is my favorite of Shakespeare's plays?) And then, and then, I find out that the Cumberbatch himself is on the same recording! As Ferdinand! ("I might call him a thing divine.") Sir Ian and Benedict! Sweet mother of jesus on a toasty flat bread. HAD to have it. So, I bought it on cd. Cds, you remember what those are, right? Me neither. That, plus the Rumpole radio plays have kept me full up in the Cumberbatchian voice porn. It's heaven.

• I'm currently wearing a poncho that raynemaiden gave me. <3 It's soft and warm. Vince Noir (that's Noel Fielding's character from The Mighty Boosh, as you know) said you can never be unhappy in a poncho. I, on the other hand, can never stay conscious in one. Sleepy, so sleepy....
