"Adventures In Babysitting":

Liked it but don't have much to say about it besides liking Krissy and her interaction with Dean as well as her depiction of a strong, self-sufficient hunter's kid.

Oh, and the return of Kevin McNally! I hope they bring Frank back a few more times. I loved all of his increasingly silly and borderline inappropriate nicknames for Dean.

"Time After Time":

Okay, first and possibly most important in my shallow, shallow brain, there's the utterly acceptable fan service of putting Jensen in a 40s suit and fedora. Jesus, the fedora.

And shoulder holster! GUH. Hell, even the ridiculously parted and slicked back hair was pure sex.

And then there was Dean's obvious glee at playing dress up alongside Eliot Ness. I thought it was cool of the writers to render yet another American historical figure into a secret hunter.

Sheriff Mills! I hate seeing the boys separated so much, but when Show pairs up one of the boys with someone awesome (aside: hee! at Ness's questioning of the colloquial version of "awesome") like Jody, I don't mind quite as much. Plus, Sam and Dean kind of were working together... only 68 years apart.

Another highlight of this episode was smart!Dean: 1.) the tricks he picked up from Frank and his big brother smugness at impressing Sam, 2.) figuring out how to communicate with Sam back in 2012.

Other things that were good:

- Chronos! And the general resurrection of the American Gods theme.
- Ezra, as Bobby's 1940s female counterpart.
- The coloring for the 1940s in particular. I loved the saturated orange-red tones everywhere, from the fabric to the wood stains. It was less hokey than sepia or b&w might have been, kind of tapping into that warmth of nostalgia. But the reddish slant to the orange tones reminded us - along with the actual mention in dialogue - about the war going on and the more near and present danger. ETA: Then there's all the green, which I didn't even pick up on until the second viewing - also striking compared to the washed-out tones in present day.
- Sam's hair after Dean gets blasted into the past.
- Pretty much everything.
- And this shot:

That shot.

Not sure what to think about the promo for next week, so going with a wait-and-see method.

• Still proud of SPN for winning not only the SciFi/Fantasy People's Choice Award but also best TV Drama. I still think the PCAs are a bit of a joke, but it's not like the Emmys and Globes recognize genre shows, especially underdogs like SPN. Of course, I think even less of the PCAs for not even mentioning that SPN won the drama award during the broadcast. I guess I should be happy they mentioned the SciFi/Fantasy award during that little "oh, here's a list of other awards we don't care enough about to broadcast" segment. But neglecting to mention the Best TV Drama? Seriously? PCAs, you know what you can do with your awards shaped like pointy, glass vulvas....

Even the adorable Big Bang Theory intro. and NPH's brilliance (so much awww at him and David) and HIMYM winning Best Comedy can not subdue the bitterness I feel about staying up to see an entire awards show only to have my favorite show get the cold shoulder treatment.

• Can I say how much I loved, loved, LOVED last week's Sherlock? OMG, so much wonderfulness crammed into 90 minutes! Why must there only be three episodes per series??

• Regarding another British show: am really looking forward to Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy, but some of the images are kind of creeping me out. Too, too close to clownish make-up. I know Noel has already done much more obvious clown make-up. But, but. Clowns are eeeevil.

• Love this mash-up poster of SPN, Doctor Who and Sherlock. YES.

how i met your mother, noel fielding, big bang theory, doctor who, sherlock, ackles, supernatural
